FISH Philosophy

I am struggling with my transition back to school and into a new role with my graduate assistantship. My behavior over the last week is a reflection of my uncertainty with the current situation in my life. I miss my previous role as Hockey Director and miss the families and work family that fulfilled me. Looking back on last week’s FISH video reminded me of how I lived the FISH model in my previous job. I decided after watching the FISH video that I would try to bring some of that same energy to my new role as a GA with Shenandoah Valley United Soccer (SVU).

Over the course of the week, I experienced the transition from a disconnected employee to a positive member of our team. I pretty much willed myself towards a more vibrant lifestyle and decided that I needed to be more present. This presence has also spilled over into the other areas of my life that require the same attention and positivity, my family. With my wife being pregnant, everyday is a bit of an adventure. I never know what may set her off or move her to admiration for me. That being said, I need to be at my best to respond to her needs. By being present, it has enabled me to cherish the day-to-day experiences as opposed to letting them flash by without thought.

I fully believe that I am the master of my fate and that I have the capacity to better my life. This is done by consistent play and positivity as I try to retain a sense of humor in everything I do and remain optimistic no matter how hard things may seem. I believe that this energy is infections and that the people closest to me will help me to be better on the hard days just as I try to help them.
